Apple Cornmeal Upside Down Cake : Free and Easy Bake-Along #30

This is made to join my baking buddies,  Lena of Frozen Wings, Joyce of Kitchen Flavours and Zoe of Bake for Happy Kids for the bake along event jointly hosted by the three musketeers ( they are the talented home bakers!).

The cake is loaded with lots of sliced apples that are first caramelized until they are tender.  The sweet aroma of the cake can lure anyone into the kitchen when it emanates from the oven ( I’m not exaggerating ).   Initially I thought of replacing cornmeal with semolina but decided to keep to the original recipe since I managed to get a packet of yellow cornmeal from the baking store.  Thanks to Joyce and Lena for answering to my query 🙂

This is a delightful cake among the bloggers who have participated in the event.  I baked this for our afternoon tea and my family likes it very much.

  1. eileen, now i wonder how would the texture came out if semolina was used. who knows, it could even be better, really curious. I can see that the apples are nice and tender and good textuere.
